Spirit of the Red, White and Blue

        Hey y'all!!
I know I've mentioned in past posts that this is my favorite holiday, and it is! I just love the festive colors, the fireworks, and the togetherness of family and friends joining to celebrate such an important day. So this year, here is my 4th of July prayer for our nation. You're welcome to pray along:

Father,

Bless the leaders of our nation.
Please give them the wisdom and guidance,
To lead us in the years to come.

*

Bless our troops; the men and women,
Fighting for our freedom.
Please keep them safe, send angels to protect them,
 And bring them home soon.

*

Bless the firefighters and policemen,
Who face danger every day.
Please protect them as they lay their lives,
On the line for our safety.

*

Bless the nurses comforting patients in the NICU,
And the doctors saving lives in the ER.
Please give them the energy and strength,
To keep performing their daily miracles.

*

Bless the stay-at-home Moms and the hardworking Dads,
Providing for their families.
Please give them the rest and strength they need,
To raise the next generation.

*

Bless the cancer patients fighting for their lives.
Please give them the comfort, bravery, and the strength, to keep fighting. Please provide a cure.

*

Finally, please bless our nation on this special day. Remind us, as we celebrate, that today is more than BBQs and fireworks. It's about family, about friends, and about freedom.

Amen.

* God bless America *

WELCOME 2013!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!!

Gosh, it’s 2013 already; does anyone else feel like 2012 just flew by too quickly??? Time really is an elusive thing. But it was such a good year! Let's see:

Learned the true meaning of art,
And we discovered the hero within ourselves.

The Lord truly blessed it! I thank Him especially for the new, wonderful friends I've made over the past 365 days J they sure made the year special.
Now, this is also the perfect time not only to reflect on the past year, but to look forward to the future with anticipation. It says in Jeremiah 29:11:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Our future is bright and 2013 is going to be a rockin' year; I can just feel it! Think of the new adventures just waiting for us! The places we'll go, the people we'll meet, and experiences we'll have... it's going to be awesome! I can’t wait!!!

So farewell 2012, you've sure left us with good memories.
And hello 2013!!! Let’s go make some new ones!

Tis the Season...

Christ loves you, unconditionally. His love is boundless, limitless, and true. It is broader than the morning sky, and deeper than all Seven Seas, and it is meant for everyone... yes, even you!

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

It's not about what you've done or the mistakes you've made in the past. It's about what He did for you; how He came down from Heaven for you, and died for you. His love is everlasting and celebrating this love, I believe, is the true meaning of Christmas!

Luke 2:10-12
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you : You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Let's not lose sight of what today is about. Shopping, buying, spending, cooking, cleaning, stress... that is not Christmas. This is a time to remember, to bask in what He did for us, when we didn't even ask. It's not about how perfect the house was, it's about how perfect God's love is. It is not about the gifts under the tree, it's about His love for you and me!

Ephesians 2:4-5
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.

So spend time with your family and your friends. Laugh together, pray together, and lend a helping hand. Reach out to those in need, comfort those who hurt, and remember love should be our reason. After all, tis the season!

1 John 3:16-18
This is how we know what love is : Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

Merry Christmas Y'all

Give Thanks...

For a loving family and good friends
For the blessings angels send
Give thanks
For clothes to wear and food to eat
For our hands and for our feet
Give thanks
For even in the dark there is a Light,
And dawn always breaks the night

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!
Psalm 107:1
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

With all our Love; Thank You!

To all the men and women who protect us
Who've put your lives on the lines for us
Who've sacrificed everything so we can sleep free at night
Who rise daily to win the fight
Thank you
For all that you do
And for all you have done
To make sure our freedom is won
We love you

Happy Independence Day U.S.A!

You may have guessed by now but this is my absolute favorite holiday! It's the fireworks, the colors, watching the sunset on the beach (family tradition). Its cookouts and bonfires and the smell of fresh cut grass lingering in the air. The 4th, to me, is the signal that summer is here and in full swing and absolutely awesome! It's a time to spend with friends and family, to slow down and unplug from this crazy life we're living. But we are also celebrating so much more. We are celebrating our blessings. Because, yes, we are blessed. Some of us may be struggling, but America is very blessed. We are also celebrating our country's Independence (hence, Independence Day) our freedom. Isn't that wonderful? We have the freedom to be whoever and whatever we want to be! Not many people in the world can say that but we can. America is a free nation and today we celebrate that freedom!
And thanks, of course, to the brave men and women who've fought for our country, we've stayed that way. That's a pretty good reason to celebrate! So break out the baked beans and coleslaw (love yours Nana!) and let's enjoy this freedom which we've been given! And in a couple of hours, when we're sitting out on the lawn watching the fireworks, let's say a prayer for our nation. Here, I'll start early: "Thank you, Father, for bringing this country to the place it is and please continue to take us to even greater heights. Please protect those who are protecting our freedom today and bless the USA."

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYBODY!

Dear Daddy...

Thank you,
For holding my hand when I tried to walk but kept falling.
Thank you,
For teaching me, for guiding me, for helping me find my calling;
Thank you,
For comforting me when I cried, and for always being there by my side.
I just wanted to take this chance to say:

Happy Father's Day!

Forever in Our Hearts; Let's Remember Them

This is dedicated to all the wonderful men and women who serve our country (those who have sacrificed their lives, and those who are still fighting). Many members of my family have fought for America's freedom and it's a heroic sacrifice. So this Memorial Day I just wanted to say thank you.

To the fallen: we salute your bravery, your amazing strength, and your heroic lives. You are not forgotten; we still remember what lives you've touched and what amazing things you did for us! We'll hold you forever in our hearts and in the heart of America.

And to those of you still fighting: keep your spirits high! We are praying for your safety; the Lord is watching over you, His protective hand is holding you, and soon you will be reunited with your families.

Because, the sacrifices you have made for our freedom are astounding and appreciated.
~Thank you so much~

  Moms everywhere: thank you for
COmforting us when we feel afraid,
Teaching us right from wrong and

Thank You Lord For A…

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYYYY NNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

   LOL, I can't believe  it's officially 2012!!
Isn't it awesome?!
LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!

Aaaand while you're doing that, during the eating and the partying, you'll probably be, at some time, making your New Years Resolution!
Aaand, you're probably expecting me to post mine tonight...
Buuut, instead of a resolution, this year I'm doing something a little different...
I’m making a New Years Prayer!
Sooo, go ahead, sit back with your fruit punch and enjoy, cause here it goes:

Lord,
Thank you for this past year, for the all the good You’ve brought to us, all the blessing You’ve bestowed, all the challenges You’ve helped us overcome, and all the victories we’ve won! Thank you for good friends, family, food and fun. Thank you for new memories, for those little things that matter and all the precious moments we will never forget. Thank you for keeping us safe when times got rough and for never giving us anything that was too much for us to handle. Also, thank you for loving us every day, no matter what, even if we never knew it.
Please, now, bless our nation in this coming year, bless our efforts and quiet all our fears. Please help those who cannot help themselves, give hope to those who have none, and help us to keep going even if all we want to do is quit. Please reunite those who have been separated, find those who might be lost, let the hurt stop hurting, the weak be strong, and the tired know that rest will come. And, finally, please teach us how to love each other, and give us all hope for a bright, happy future.
Because I believe that You are good, and you have a good plan for us, so in the name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen!

There you go! Hope you have an awesome night and wish you a...
Happy New Years Y’all! J

7 Days of Thanks (Day 7)

Well, here we are, the last day of 7 Days of Thanks!! Let’s make it a good one. Hmmm…

Today:

I’m thankful for my readers!
Ya, I’m thankful for all of you who’ve ever read a letter of my stories, poetry or posts.

I’m thankful for every eye that has seen my work,
Every finger that has clicked on me,
And every Heart that has been touched by a Beautiful Truth.

You know, my creative inspiration comes from many different sources but there’s only one source for my motivation…

You!

Because, without you I wouldn't really have a reason to post at all! You're why I keep typing away at my keyboard, scratching away with my pencils, and continually working my imagination.

So thank you to all who’ve,
Subscribed,
Followed,
Friended,
Tweeted,
Commented,
#1-ed,
And liked my posts!

Without you, I wouldn’t be doing this.
Y’all are the best!!
J

There ya go, today: I am most thankful for you, my readers.

And so ends our 7 Days of Thanks!! And what an epic week it was! But you’re probably wondering “so what now?” Well, don’t worry, I’ve got some ideas (I always do, ya know) but you’ll just have to wait and see what I post next! For now:
Happy Holidays Y’all!

7 Days of Thanks (Day 6)

Today:
I’m thankful for my horse Lightning

We’ve come a long way from a little girl who had no clue what she was getting into and a chestnut pony without any spots, lol! But over the past ten years The Lord has certainly brought us far, and I can’t wait to see where He will take us next!

We’ve driven cattle,
Climbed trails,
Overcome unimaginable fears and difficulties,
Made a cross-country move,
Ridden in rain, snow, and suffocating Heat waves...

We’ve recovered from a bad fall that had a difficult consequence but an awesome Happily Ever After (click here for our story). And, this might sound funny to anyone who doesn't work with horses, but: my horse has taught me so much!

I’ve learned about discipline,
freedom,
and certainly patience.
(just to name a few)
Because horses tend to do that to you;
they'll show you sides of yourself that you didn't know you had.

 Lightning is very laid back
Sometimes
mischievous
Always hilarious
And  I love him with all my heart.
J

So today: I’m thankful for my horse Lightning.

Alrighty then, what about you? "So what are you thankful for?" Go ahead, share your thoughts and don’t forget to be right here, tomorrow, on Nutmeg, tomorrow afternoon, right here, for the final day of:
7 Days of Thanks!!
