I Just want to Say; Thank You

Hey y'all,

I didn't realize this account was still so active until I checked it a little while ago, and to find there has been so much activity really surprised (and delighted) me!

My life has changed so much since the time I stopped writing on here that I feel like a new person, and I'm sure my posts are going to sound different now. Maybe I'll write and explain what happened, but for now...

As for the continuation of this website, I'll start posting again since you're all still reading. I have some new ideas and new content that I really want to share with you. I'm excited, and looking forward to future posts and connecting =)

Anyways, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and God bless you all!

Sincerely,
Me =)

Heeeeeeeey Y'all...

    Wow.

I knew, I hadn't posted in a loooooooooong time but I didn't realize it's been this long. I’m sooooooooooooo sorry!! The last few weeks have been really crazy for me and my family; we've had some complicated things going on, including an unexpected move we had to make right before school was about to start.

So yeah, it's been quite an interesting summer and some of it didn't really go how I had hoped it would. But the Lord has a plan for everything and He has brought some very good things out of these difficult situations.

I'm happy to say that my life is slowly returning to it's regularly scheduled craziness, lol, and now I can start making posts again. I have so many things to share with you!!

Anyways, I've missed you all and I hadn't stopped thinking about you. I can't wait to continue our journey together!!

So I'll talk to you very soon,
 Until then,
Lots of love,
From me :)

Sorry!

My Classes Started and theses posts take a while to make so,

It’s tricky
but don’t worry
I’m determined to keep posting!

It just might not be as often as it was (for now).

But hang in there and stay tuned ‘cause I have some great ideas I can’t wait to share!

Hey, just wondering:

How do you balance all the things you know you have to do,
and still make time to do the things you want to do?
I'd love to know

Luv you guys!
Happy reading y’all!

Nutmeg is Currently Unavailable

If you’re reading this I can’t come to the blog right now for I am currently lounging on a remote, tropical island somewhere in the Gulf, yes probably in a cabana, savoring an ice tea.

Please do not send a rescue squad!

I have not been marooned here but will get back to you as soon as the sand, sun and surf have deeply penetrated the Heart, Soul and Spirit of this overworked mind and body

(Hmm, unless I encounter pirates, of course, then I’ll naturally be a while longer, but promise to return with a couple swashbuckling tales to tell! Lol, jk)

I may come back to the real world looking a bit tanner, but that is a risk I am willing to take, and if the monkeys would give me back my pen I might have some new posts to share!!

So just leave a message at the beep and I’ll see you when I see you!!
Happy, reading y’all!

Did You Know Dreamers are Buoyant?

You’ll never know what could have been without risking what might be
and you’ll never know if you can fly if you never try.

    I learned this today.
Its like : I’m standing in the boat, the seas buffeted by wind and waves and Jesus is beckoning to me from across the water and all I have to do is step out from this comfy, sheltered canoe and walk towards Him.
You ever feel like that? Like, in order to get to your dreams you have to do something outside your comfort zone, which can be as scary as trying to walk across a hurricane-enraged sea?
Knowing if you can fly is priced with risk (the risk of failing while trying to succeed). As I stepped out of the van today and walked across campus - like the Sea of Galilee - with each step I tried to remember that He was there with me, He would keep my head above water…
But, sadly, I looked at the waves and doubts crept in.

    What if I sink?

What if I don’t?

    What if I fail?

Maybe I wont.

Yet Jesus was there to pluck me out, to dry me off, to ask, “Why did you doubt?” (Matt 14:31) and He taught me something important today:

Dreamers float.

“Everything is possible for him who believes,” (Mark 9:23) and even though it’s hard to resist doubts, I have to keep stepping out in faith, even if I fail. After all,, He has brought me this far…

OH YAH, I'M BACK!

    In the saddle that is.
Yep, the human body is just amazing. Two weeks ago I couldn't really walk (on account of two sprained ankles... yah, both. See One Step at a Time) but today I was able to swing myself onto Lightning's back :)

Praise the Lord!

There's just something about horses,
the altitude of being up so high
and the adrenaline of being seated
on one of the most powerful forces on earth.

The sky looks bluer
and the grass is just so green.

You're not really a part of earth
and Heaven seems just so close!
It's the ultimate peace, the place of serenity
It's where two hearts converge and two souls unite.
Weightless, a step away from flight.

You're Untouchable by Gravity, Worries and Strife...

Ah, tis the cowgirl's life!

One Step at a Time

Heyu,
Whew, what a week! It was one of those we all have them when anything that could happen did, all at once! That’s why my posts haven’t been real consistent lately :)
Also, I’ve been laid up with some minor injuries (I just have a knack for being accident prone) and, although I’m ok, it’s been a little difficult this past week or so to get really anything done, LOL!
But like I said on Facebook: we will adapt and overcome!
Actually, this became a good thing; my adversity was the inspiration for this post
Isn’t it funny how it’s easier to talk the talk, than walk the walk? That’s one of the things I’ve learned this week (not because I can’t actually walk too well, that’s beside the point) but I also realized that the saying is true; you really do have to practice what you preach.
Y’all know the story of my neck injury and the medical struggles I’ve dealt with all my life (see Four Reasonsto read how Jesus healed me). Well, you would think that after all I’ve been through two little sprained ankles (yah, I twisted both, I’m just special that way) wouldn’t be too big a deal. But I feel I should admit that it did scare me a little to go see the doctor about this.
Like I said when I mentioned I fell off of Lightning again (Cowgirl Up) you have to just dust off your jeans and get back on. I went to the doctor earlier this week and had X-rays taken and thank the Lord nothing’s broken, it’s just a bad sprain, but the whole excursion was a bit of a boat-rocker for me; it dredged up a lot of unwelcome memories and forgotten fears.
Everyone feels fear, it’s natural and human. But fear shouldn’t keep you from doing something that you want (or in my case had) to do. I figured this out when I was sitting on the examining table -- which is the last place on this whole wide green earth I ever want to be. I was sitting there, swinging my legs, staring at all the things about a doctor’s office that make me lightheaded, and I’ll tell you what: I felt less like a brave knight and more like an unarmed elf facing down a giant. My MP3 player couldn’t go loud enough, and I was looking for the nearest exit I could get to, when I remembered what it says in Philippians:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

Even though I found this easier said than done, I realized I had to trust that scripture and I thought: Ok, Lord, I know You think I can to do this, but You’re gonna have to give me the bravery cause I can’t do this without You.
  And you know what?
Everything went so smoothly, and the doctors and nurses were all so nice, that by the time we left, the peace of God really had filled me and there was no room for fear!
I think, sometimes, God asks us to endure hardships so He can show us how strong we really are.
Through this whole um, lovely? endeavor I learned that if you let God take control He can take something broken and make it beautiful, because He promises to never give us anything more than we can handle.
So there ya go, that’s what’s been going on in my life, just a little slice of wisdom from my picnic basket of experiences. My feet are healing nicely now, and if my Mom has her way I’ll be duct taped to the couch for a while, so we’ll just see what a couple hours on my computer brings us (I know you can’t see it but I’m wiggling my eyebrows in a sly, devious sort of way). ;)

Hey, just curious:
Have you ever had to face a fear and in the end
everything turned out fine because of it?

The "Meg" in Nutmeg

Just Like You Copywritten 2010
Father, lead me so I can lead others.
Teach me so I can be a teacher, too.
Help me to help my brothers,
because I just want to be like
You.

The poem above is one of many I've composed that you'll probably see, but that one best describes me and my desires.

Hey yall, I'm  Megan Finsel
                    the 'Meg' in Nutmeg
(and yes I just called myself a nut :D).

Welcome to my blog! Let me tell you about myself:

I am a seventeen-year-old recent high school graduate.

OK, that's the "What" now for the "Who"!
I am an  author , and these are my Thoughts and Dreams, the adventures I think up on rainy days then mold together into short stories, poems and even a novel or two (ok often a novel or two).
Being an author is the best job in the world!
We get to ride Dragons!

Swim with Mermaids!

Fall in Love

Ride Dragons!
(wait I already said that)

LOL, there's so much freedom! So many exciting things to write about and discover; you're only limited by your imagination (and thankfully I have a pretty broad one of those).

Books are amazing, like gateways into the creators' minds. I guess you've already figured I might kinda sorta like books. Ok, I LOVE them, I love writing and reading all kinds of books but mostly Fantasy. I love writing (nontraditional) fantasy with twisted plots, twisted characters, and exciting adventures.
I write the kind of books that I

...as a teen...

wouldn't mind diving to the bottom of a bargain bin to get to!

So I'll be posting little snippets of stuff I've written:

(Short stories... poetry ...  bits of my novels...  random thoughts).

Nutmeg will kinda be like an imagination central,
a place of escape from any and all

Doldrums .

I'm also an Artist, so you'll probably be seeing a lot of sketches and doodles that I've cooked up on occasion; maybe illustrating a story, oftentimes just quirky things I want to share. Art can bring the words of a story into 3D, and breathe life into a character. If you're an illustrator then you know what I mean! Art is a very powerful tool, and a medium I love to experiment with.

I also like making mini-movies, so expect to see some neat little clipits of stuff I've shot as I escort you on a few of my recent  summer quests (and, boy, did I have some quests this summer!)
Books are exciting, wonderful opportunities for adventure; there's inspiration everywhere, even in the very air we breathe. So why don't you buckle up and come with me on a ride you won't ever forget through that gateway into the, um, exotic world of my imagination .

   Who knows...?

You might never want to return to reality again!
