Precious. It means: ‘to be greatly cherished’, and we like to use it in sentences like: “Now isn’t she precious?” A kitten in a flowerpot is precious. A puppy playing in high grass is precious. A child rolling out cookie dough is precious. That’s what we think of as "precious". But, why don’t we say: “I’m precious, too.”?
Treasured. It means: ‘something of great value’, and when we think of treasure we think of incredible wealth hidden in wondrous caves. Diamonds are treasured. Rings, blings, and shiny things are treasured. So are family memories and heirlooms. That’s what we think of as "treasured". But why don’t we think: “I’m treasured, too?”
Why don’t we stop to think: “I’m precious or treasured, or loved, or beautiful.”? Is it selfish to like yourself? No, not really. Is it wrong to like the you that you are? No, actually.
Well, if you would call someone you love precious or treasured, why not say the same about yourself?
You deserve to.
And the truth is,
God already loves
Precious,
Treasured,
You
And you should, too!
