Tis the Season...

Christ loves you, unconditionally. His love is boundless, limitless, and true. It is broader than the morning sky, and deeper than all Seven Seas, and it is meant for everyone... yes, even you!

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

It's not about what you've done or the mistakes you've made in the past. It's about what He did for you; how He came down from Heaven for you, and died for you. His love is everlasting and celebrating this love, I believe, is the true meaning of Christmas!

Luke 2:10-12
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you : You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Let's not lose sight of what today is about. Shopping, buying, spending, cooking, cleaning, stress... that is not Christmas. This is a time to remember, to bask in what He did for us, when we didn't even ask. It's not about how perfect the house was, it's about how perfect God's love is. It is not about the gifts under the tree, it's about His love for you and me!

Ephesians 2:4-5
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.

So spend time with your family and your friends. Laugh together, pray together, and lend a helping hand. Reach out to those in need, comfort those who hurt, and remember love should be our reason. After all, tis the season!

1 John 3:16-18
This is how we know what love is : Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

Merry Christmas Y'all

The Hero Within

Wow, what an awesome semester! I'm both relieved and a little sad that it's over because I absolutely loved my classes, especially my painting class. So here you go, this is my final painting:

We were allowed to choose our own concept for this one and I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom!
This is an inner city scene at sunset, and the idea behind it was that inside each of us there is greatness no matter how small we are. Who knows, maybe I'll write a story about it!
What do you think?

Painting Inside the Box

Ok, this one was fun to do! Our second to last assignment was a still-life, which was just a giant arrangement of random, miscellaneous junk that really didn't make any sense. But it was really interesting to look at and took up almost half the classroom! This is only a little bit of the whole thing:

The challenge was to make the objects appear as real as possible. Realism is difficult for me; my style is more abstract or nonrepresentational, I guess. But it was fun to sit down and actually paint something that I was looking at. For most of this project I was sitting on the floor, and I didn't realize how cold the linoleum would become after two hours, lol!
Anyways, for my first still-life, I'm pleased with the outcome.

Who I Am; Self-Portrait

I guess I really don't have to explain this assignment too much, lol. Yep, this is my self-portrait.

This was probably the hardest assignment for me this semester, but as hard as it was I enjoyed the challenge. This is done from a photo and from just looking in a mirror, and I tried to make it as personal as possible. My instructor wanted us to express who we are, and I tried my best to show who I am and what makes me, well, me. I had wanted to put a poem in the background but I didn't have enough time. Oh well, I'll save that for another project ;).
